President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed Danladi Irmiya Kifasi as the new Head of Service.

Danladi Irmiya Kifasi replaces the former Head of Service, Bukar Aji, who is going to retire soon. This information was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, on his twitter handle.

Mr. Kifasi brings a rich experience from both the civil service and the private sector to his current position. His appointment takes immediate effect.
In addition to this the president approved the redeployment of nine permanent secretaries across federal ministries: Engr. Emodi Nebolisa, Mr. Adelakun Yemi, Mohammed S. Bashar, Mrs. Fatima B. Bamidele, Engr. Magaji A.G. and Mrs Jamila Shu’ara.

Among the newly deployed perm secs were  Amb. Danjuma Nanpon Sheni, Mrs Binta Lami Bello who now assume duty at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and  Dr. Babatope Ajakaiye Common Services Office, OHCSF.

The formalities for the redeployed and newly-deployed permanent secretaries should be completed by August 20, 2014, Wednesday, or earlier.

Until this appointment Mr. Kifasi took a position of the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance. He previously served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Aviation and the Ministry of Youth Development. From 2001 to 2007, Mr. Kifasi was a Director in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) and at various times headed the Finance and Accounts department and the Revenue division.

Between 1990 and 2001, Mr. Kifasi held middle management positions (Assistant and Deputy Director level) at the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture where he served as the Financial Controller of the World Bank funded National Livestock Projects Division (NLPD).

Prior to his Civil Service career, Mr. Kifasi worked with the Jos International Brewery (JIB) group where he was Deputy Manager (Accounts), and later Chief Accountant of BARC Farms Ltd., a JIB subsidiary. Mr. Kifasi attended Nottingham Trent University, the West Bromwich College of Commerce and Technology and the London School of Accountancy in the UK.

He is a qualified accountant in both the United Kingdom (FCCA) and Nigeria (ACA – ICAN). He is also a lawyer, having graduated from the University of Abuja (LLB) and the Nigerian Law School (BL). Mr Kifasi is a 2008 graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies. He is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Taxation in Nigeria (CITN). He is happily married with children.
