The Ghana Homeless World Cup star is eyeing a call to play for the Gunners following an outstanding performance in the street soccer-style tournament in Santiago

A member of Team Ghana participating in this year’s Homeless World Cup in Santiago, Mensah McDonald Ezekel, is knocking on the doors of English side Arsenal to give him a chance.

Mensah is a super fan of the Gunners and hopes to use his exploits at the Homeless World Cup to catch the eyes of Arsenal scouts.

The brother of three younger siblings had a long trip from Ghana through South Africa and Brazil to get to Santiago. Mensah was given the opportunity to represent the west African side by the manager of the Ghana Homeless World Cup team and believes he has not only developed as a player but as a person also.

“We are very poor back home, but me coming here is not just for me. It's for the people of Ghana.”

Amaechi Promises To Support Buhari

Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi, has declared his support for the former Head of State, Maj-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.), to run for presidency in 2015 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The governor made his position known on Tuesday when the former head of state paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt, ThisDay reports.

Amaechi expressed believes that Buhari has a solution to corruption which he described as the main problems of Nigeria and insisted he would support the former head of state in his aspiration.

He, however, condemned the fact that several Nigerians had been accusing Buhari of tribalism and also being a religious bigot.

“The problem that you have in politics, which I have come to observe, is that those who managed your image in the past did not manage it properly. They allowed them erroneous label of you being a religious bigot to stick. Let me take myself for example, if you accuse me once, I accuse you 20 times and then go to the media to tell them my own side of the story.

Ex Anambra Governor Peter Obi Explains Why He Defected

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, who recently left his party the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), has explained his reason for doing so.

Obi who spoke to newsmen during an interactive session with Igbo group in Lagos State said his main reason for joining the PDP was because of his resolve to be strongly involved in President Goodluck Jonathan’s 2015 re-election bid, Daily Sun reports.
He said: “Mr. President is doing very well. He has a lot of policies in place that will transform the country if re-elected. We shall support him fully for the benefit of the country.”

He stated that his defection had nothing to do with APGA as he still enjoys a cordial relationship with the governor of the state, Chief Willie Obiano, adding that he had no grievance against his former party.

REAL: Foiled Arms Deal: Group Wants Jonathan, Oritsejafor In Court

A group of Nigerians has addressed #1 Federal High Court located in Kano in relation to the mysterious and scandalous USD9.3m (N1.5bn) arms deal foiled by South African authorities. The activists want President Goodluck Jonathan and the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, to give explanations.

The five plaintiffs were led by Dr Saidu Ahmed Dukawa , who initiated the matter, TheNation reported.
They are intending to compel the leader of Nigeria and the owner of the involved jet, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, to give reasons for the alleged illegal transaction. The group is sure that more light needs to be shed on the confiscation of USD9.3m in cash, flown into Johannesburg via one of Oritsejafor’s private jets.
he prayers of the five Nigerians also include handing out of the details which may clarify the essence of the deal that looked like a “pure case of money laundering”, as Caridnal Olubunmi Okogie said.
The plaintiffs also urged the court to compel President Jonathan to disclose the identity of those arrested in the possession of the huge sum that was confiscated.

It would be recalled that over three weeks ago three passengers of a private jet were arrested upon arrival to South Africa for illegally brining $9.3m in several suitcases. The money was intended for arms purchase and the Federal Government almost immediately issued documents to confirm the legality of the deal.

However, the South African side was not really convinced and the diplomatic scandal between the two countries keeps burning.

Headline: Adamawa Acting Governor Fintiri Sacked, Bye-Elections Cancelled.

The statement reads: “The Federal High Court, Abuja on Wednesday, October 8 2014, delivered judgment in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/545/2014 between Barrister Bala James Ngilari vs. Speaker, Adamawa State House of Assembly & 5 Ors.

“The Court declared that Barrister Bala James Nggilari did not resign from his office as Deputy Governor of Adamawa State as required by the Constitution and granted, among others, an order restraining INEC from conducting a bye-election to fill the office of Governor of Adamawa State.

“In compliance with the court order, INEC hereby suspends all preparations for the conduct of governorship bye-election in Adamawa State, which was scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 11, 2014.”
The state house of assembly impeached the state governor, Murtala Nyako, on allegations of financial impropriety.

Following his impeachment, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ahmadu Fintiri was sworn-in as the Acting Governor of the state as Nyako’s deputy, Bala Ngilari was said to have resigned from office to avoid being impeached by the lawmakers alongside the governor.

However, Ngilari filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking an order compelling his swearing in as the governor of the state.

INEC Suspends Governorship Bye-Election in Adamawa State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended all preparations for the Adamawa state governorship bye-election which was scheduled for October 11, 2014.

This was disclosed by INEC’s Acting Secretary, Mr. Musa H. Adamu in a Press statement.

This is in compliance with the directive from a Federal High Court in Abuja which stopped the bye-election and ordered the removal of Ahmadu Fintiri, the acting governor of the state while also asking the State’s Chief Judge to immediately swear in the former Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari.
