BEWARE: DSS, NOT CURRENTLY RECRUITING

The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it is not currently carrying out any recruitment exercise.  This clarification has become necessary in view of desperate efforts by fraudsters to scam unsuspecting job seekers or their sponsors.

The public should note that recruitment into the Service is never done on monetary basis.  Instead, it is guided by merit and transparency. Beneficiaries undergo series of screening and vetting processes and procedures through which only the best, produced by these, is taken.

In the context of this, members of the public should be mindful of attempts by fraudulent persons and /groups to fleece them of their hard earned money.  They should rather report to the Service any suspicion in this regard.

BATTLE IN BAUCHI PDP, APC OVER DOGARA'S SEAT

There is tension in both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC) as July 4th 2021 date fixed by the Federal High Court, Abuja, to hear the case involving former Speaker Yakubu Dogara’s seat at the House of Representatives

Since the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who, in 2019, got reelected to the Green Chamber on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), there have been unending contention over his seat.

When the Returning Officer for the Tafawa Balewa/Bogoro Federal Constituency of Bauchi State announced his reelection on the platform of PDP with 73,609 votes to defeat the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dalhatu Kantana, who got 50,078 votes, not many observers then expected any serious contention in the near future over the seat he has occupied since 2015 and from which he emerged the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Application online: New Career Job at Npower

N-Power is a job creation and empowerment programme of the National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government of Nigeria. The N-Power programme is for young Nigerians between the ages of 18 and 35.
Nigeria has the benefit of a young population that can catalyse a productive economy. Although current youth unemployment realities appear arduous, the scale presentsan underlying opportunity. Tapping Nigeria’s youthful demographic edge through largescale and appropriate skills development improves the prospects of economic growth and social inclusion.  Large-scale skills development,an imminent social and economic imperative, lies at the heart of the Federal Government’s 2017-2020 development plan- the Nigeria Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (NERGP). The NERGP identifies and prioritises thelarge-scaledevelopment of relevant skills for young citizens as a key driver of job creation and economic growth. By this investment through the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP), the Federal Government is playing a crucial role in bolstering the human capital of the nation’s workforce.
The Federal Government’s aggressive investment in youth development also targets some of the perennial inadequacies in public services- low teacher to pupil ratio in public primary schools; high rate of preventable diseases; lack of science and knowledge to bolster agriculture production; and a lack of enough taxable persons within the tax net. In introducing N-Power, the Federal Government provides a structure not only for large scale and relevant work skills acquisition and development; but also utilising a large volunteer workforce to fix some of the problems in public services and stimulating the larger economy.
In addition, N-Power is also a tool for diversifying the economy. Particularly, N-Power Agro provides not only the means to apply knowledge and science to our farming practices, but also to gather data for effective planning. With the Non-Graduate category (N-Power Knowledge and N-Power Build), young Nigerians are trained to build a knowledge economy equipped with world-class skills and certification to become relevant in the domestic and global markets. N-Power also focuses on providing our non-graduates with relevant technical and business skills that enhance their work outlook and livelihood.

ENVIRONMENTAL CAMPAIGN: KEEP AKWAPOLY CLEAN

INTRODUCTION
Keep Akwapoly Clean awareness campaign is a set of messages in form of billboard containing photographs, lettering or follow-ups that is being sent out to the entire Polytechnic Community. Cleaning of an environment is a key activity in many societies for centuries. The need to maintain a clean environment is as old as human existence and it is visible in biblical times (i.e. BC and AD) where the Israelites were taught how to dispose body of waste. There is also a common saying: “cleanliness is next to godliness”.
Cleaning is the process of removing unwanted substances, such as dirt, infectious agents, and other impurities, from an object or environment. Cleaning occurs in many different contexts, and uses many different methods. Several occupations are devoted to cleaning. Therefore, societies have adopted various ways of keeping their environments clean despite the fact that economic activities of humanity have been countering these efforts due to their increased sophistication.
In line with cleanliness, waste disposal is the process of collecting, transporting, processing or removal, managing and monitoring of waste materials. This term usually relates to materials produced by human activity, and the process is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or aesthetics.
The problem of Keeping the environment clean, waste management and disposal becomes increasingly pressing as human population, industrial activity and material consumption expand. To most Nigerian Institutions which Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is not exceptional, the collection and disposal of public wastes, overgrown grasses, unkempt gutter, untidy class rooms etc.  posed the most visible and costly solid waste management problem. Defecation and indiscriminate urination however, dwarf the institution wastes in magnitude particularly toxic and hazardous wastes present a severe danger to the environment.
